Gemstones Assignment

I would have to say that my favorite gemstone is the Sapphire. I would have to say that this is my favorite because it is my birth stone as well. I have always been drawn to sapphire gems for as long as I can remember. I love the color and just the overall look of the stone. I have always loved the deep blue stone that is a sapphire. Blue is also one of my favorite colors so it all just goes together as far as I can see. However, I don't like all blues, just the deep blue of the sapphire. Lighter blues just don't do it for me like the deep blue of a sapphire. I don't know how true it is, but I have also been told that the stone reminds my husband of my eye color. While I'm pretty sure my eyes aren't that deep of a blue, I do know they are a little darker than most blue eyes. Maybe that is where he sees the color of sapphire. I don't know for sure though.

According to our reading, the sapphire is best used for defensive magic and represents air. I guess the fact that it can be used for defensive magic makes sense to me that I would be drawn to this stone. Being an empath, it seems that I am constantly on the defensive against energies that come at me every day, many times it seems all day. I had noticed that I usually felt a little better when I had one of my sapphires with me. Maybe this is one of the reasons I am drawn to this particular stone. I always thought that it was because of the color, but maybe it's because I feel better when I carry or wear one. My mother always claimed that it was my favorite simply because it was my birth stone, but I just don't resonate with that sentiment. I've never understood why I liked this stone so much but now it makes a bit of sense to me that I would like this stone if I feel better when I have one with me.

I can completely understand how the sapphire would be associated with air. The color of blue would remind one of the sky, which in turn, makes me think of air. While I know the sky is usually not the same color blue of a sapphire, it still brings to mind sky for me. I believe this could be one reason for the association to air. It just makes sense to me I guess that the association would be there. While looking at the stone, it gives off an airy vibe to me as well. I pretty much figured that this would be the reason I feel that way about this stone. Knowing this information now, the whole thing makes more sense as to why I would like this stone. Of course I have also been told that I like this particular stone because it can be quite expensive, but I don't resonate with this statement either as I have never been one to go after expensive things.
